Grocery prices: 1.1% increase, with a prediction interval of down 6.6% to up 9.4%
Restaurant prices: 3.1% increase, with a prediction interval of 0.3% to up 5.9%

However, food prices in New York City are expected to increase in other ways:

Airport food

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has proposed a 7.5% increase in food and drink prices at LaGuardia, Kennedy International, and Newark Liberty International airports. The increase is intended to cover higher labor costs and improved worker benefits.
Restaurant menu prices
75% of New York City restaurants have raised their menu prices in the past six months. Some say that customers are spending less and tipping less in response to higher prices.

Some economists believe that prices will continue to increase slowly or even decline slightly, but it will take time. Others say that higher grocery prices are likely to stay because the factors keeping some prices elevated are specific to markets.

Two-thirds of Americans think Donald Trump’s tariff plans will only add to rising costs if implemented, and many are planning purchases ahead of his inauguration anticipating higher prices, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian.

Trump declared on Monday evening that he would impose 25% tariffs on all goods from Canada and Mexico, and an additional 10% on China, if they did not stop what he claimed was illegal immigration and fentanyl smuggling.

But although he has called tariffs the most “beautiful word in the dictionary”, about 69% of Americans think tariffs on imports will lead to higher prices, according to the poll.

The majority of Democrats (79%), independents (68%) and Republicans (59%) all believe that tariffs will increase the prices of the goods they pay for in the US. Nearly the same percentage of respondents said that tariffs will have a significant effect on what they can afford.
